Wellington Rape CrisisWhat we doWellington Rape Crisis Inc (WRC) was established in 1977 by a small group of women who identified, and responded to, a community need by creating a support network for survivors of rape and sexual abuse. 35 years on WRC continue to provide essential services to survivors of rape and sexual abuse and their family and friends.
The primary purpose of Wellington Rape Crisis is to provide support, advocacy, information and counselling services for survivors of rape and sexual abuse and their family and friends. We do this with the aim of ensuring survivors have the options, choices, support, information and advocacy to assist them in healing from the impact and consequences of sexual violence. We work in a client-centred and empowering way to enable survivors to gain the tools to heal and manage the varying and destructive effects of sexual violence. WRC is also committed to creating social change towards ending sexual violence in our communities through prevention education and training. Services we provide to the community – all free of charge:
