Regional Public Health

What we do

Regional Public Health (RPH) provides public health services in the Greater Wellington region. Our main office is located at Hutt Valley DHB.

We provide services such as public health nursing in schools.

Public health advisors also partner with local agencies to promote health issues such as smokefree environments, healthy housing, and mental wellbeing as well as family violence prevention.

A public health approach to family violence (being physical, psychological and sexual violence) uses a prevention model that looks at three levels of violence intervention: primary, secondary and tertiary prevention.  In terms of families enjoying violence-free lives, RPH works with community partners and networks at the primary prevention level. Primary prevention strategies act to prevent violence before it happens.
