Parent Help WellingtonWhat we doParent Help works in the field of parent and family support, parent education and child abuse prevention. When Parent Help began 23 years ago it was the only agency in Wellington that had, as its focus, the prevention of child abuse.
Our national parenting helpline, which is available from 9am-9pm 7 days a week, is a highly-regarded early intervention service where parents of children of all ages can discuss the challenges they are experiencing with their children and receive sound, positive parenting strategies to help manage the behaviour. The telephone support workers who staff the line during the day and after hours undergo extensive training in child and adolescent development; managing difficult behaviours and the impact of family violence and child abuse on children. Parent Help’s seamless, integrated support service allows callers to the helpline to access the counselling and family therapy service and individual parent education sessions. Our qualified counsellors and psychotherapists work with children, adolescents and adults as individuals, or in family groups. If we can’t help you, we will assist you to find the help you need.
