What we do

Catholic Social Services is the social outreach agency of the Archdiocese of Wellington. We provide a range of free services to people of all backgrounds and beliefs. Our main focus areas are:
  • Social Work – we offer short-term interventions and group programmes that support positive change and build skills for managing stress, conflict, communication, and the impacts of harm. Our primary clients are adults, and a particular strength of our service is supporting men to strengthen their relationships, communication, and parenting skills.
  • Seasons for Growth
  • Running programmes for children, young people, and adults experiencing change, grief, and loss.
  • Delivering professional training to equip others to support people going through these challenges.
  • Chaplaincy – providing emotional and spiritual support to patients and their whānau in hospitals
  • Refugee Resettlement – collaborating with Red Cross, Catholic and other community groups in the Wellington area to provide household goods and pantry packs to welcome people arriving in Aotearoa New Zealand through refugee pathways.
  • Volunteer Programme – volunteering is one of the ways people can be part of our mahi. Opportunities include: Seasons for Growth, Game On – men’s parenting programme, and Refugee Resettlement,
