ChangeMakers Refugee ForumWhat we doChangeMakers Refugee Forum is a rights-based, non-government organisation representing various refugee-background membership communities in Wellington, Aotearoa New Zealand.
Our vison is: New Zealanders from refugee backgrounds participate fully in New Zealand life. We work towards this vision through three core areas of work: community development, research, and advocacy. ChangeMakers continues to work in collaboration with refugee-background communities to address issues of family conflict and violence. Phases of this work have included the development of the Strong Families Strong Children resource kit. This kit consists of a DVD and resource book to help communities and social service providers talk about ‘difficult’ topics, such as intergenerational and cross-cultural tensions within families, responding to family violence, raising children in a new country without family support, and other pressures relevant to refugee-background families and how they are dealt with. ChangeMakers also runs Ahwa Info Hub weekly on Wednesday from 4 pm – 6 pm, a drop-in centre to provide support to anyone of refugee-background. If you are unsure about what else we could do to support you come and have a coffee with us when Ahwa is on. Our contact detailsChangeMakers Refugee Forum
